CVE-2026-61860

Published: July 15th, 2026
ImageMagick before 7.1.2-26 and 6.9.13-51 contains a use-after-free vulnerability that occurs when freetype initialization fails: the method does not exit and continues to use memory that was already freed. This can be triggered during image processing and may lead to a denial of service.

26.3 freetype (2.13.3) False Positive Code Not Present CVE-2026-61860 is a use-after-free in ImageMagick’s RenderFreetype() function in MagickCore/annotate.c, where a failed FT_Init_FreeType call does not cause an early return. The vulnerable code is entirely within ImageMagick — it is not a defect in the freetype library itself. Document Filters does not include or link against ImageMagick. Our use of freetype (via pdfium, skia, and ODA) properly handles initialization failures in each respective caller and is not affected.
